Bellingham, WA – Due to increasingly poor air quality, Whatcom Unified Command, upon public health recommendation by the Whatcom County Health Department, has decided to close the drive-through testing operations this afternoon.
Dr. Greg Stern, Whatcom County Health Officer, recommended that testing be postponed in order to protect those scheduled for testing, as well as staff, from unhealthy air quality.
The testing scheduled from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Sikh Temple at 176 East Pole Road in Lynden is cancelled. This morning’s scheduled testing at Bender Fields in Lynden from 9 a.m. to 12 noon is continuing as scheduled.
Those with appointments will be notified of cancellations and have an opportunity to register for an appointment at a later date. Whatcom Unified Command hopes to reopen tomorrow for testing at Civic Field in Bellingham from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., but will continue to monitor air quality and may need to close that testing site as well.
For any changes to the testing schedule please monitor this website – whatcomcounty.us/covidtesting – or the Health Department Facebook page.
